چکیده

One electron system minimally coupled to a quantized radiation field is considered. It is assumed that the quantized radiation field is massless, and no infrared cutoff is imposed. The Hamiltonian, H, of this system is defined as a self-adjoint operator acting on L2(R3) ⊗ F , where F is the Boson Fock space over L2(R3 × {1, 2}). It is shown that the ground state, ψg, of H belongs to ∩k=1D(1 ⊗Nk), where N denotes the photon number operator of F . Moreover it is shown that, for almost every electron position variable x ∈ R3 and for arbitrary k ≥ 0, ‖(1⊗N)ψg(x)‖F ≤ Dke m+1 with some constants m, Dk, and δ independent of k. In particular ψg ∈ ∩k=1D(e m+1 ⊗Nk) for 0 < β < δ/2 is obtained.

Relativistic and QED energy shifts in positronium ion

The leading relativistic and QED corrections to the ground state energy of the three-body system e − e + e − are calculated numerically using a Hylleraas correlated basis set. The accuracy of the nonrelativistic variational ground state wave function is discussed with respect to the convergence properties at the increase of the basis dimension and to the variance of the energy expectation value...

Binding energy of the positronium negative ion: Relativistic and QED energy shifts

The leading relativistic and QED corrections to the ground-state energy of the three-body system e−e+e− are calculated numerically using a Hylleraas correlated basis set. The accuracy of the nonrelativistic variational ground state is discussed with respect to the convergence of the energy with increasing size of the basis set, and also with respect to the variance of the Hamiltonian. The corre...

Model independent analysis of proton structure for hydrogenic bound states.

Proton structure effects in hydrogenic bound states are analyzed using nonrelativistic QED effective field theory. Implications for the Lamb shift in muonic hydrogen are discussed. Model-dependent assumptions in previous analyses are isolated, and sensitivity to poorly constrained hadronic structure in the two-photon exchange contribution is identified.

Localization of the number of photons of ground states in nonrelativistic QED

One electron system minimally coupled to a quantized radiation field is considered. It is assumed that the quantized radiation field is massless, and no infrared cutoff is imposed. The Hamiltonian, H, of this system is defined as a self-adjoint operator acting on L2(R3) ⊗ F ∼= L2(R3;F), where F is the Boson Fock space over L2(R3 × {1, 2}). It is shown that the ground state, ψg, of H belongs to ...

Nrqed in Bound States: Applying Renormalization to an Effective Field Theory

This is a pedagogical introduction to NRQED, a nonrelativistic approximation to quantum electrodynamics. It can be made to reproduce QED to any degree of precision when applied to nonrelativistic systems and is particularly powerful when applied to bound states. We will begin by explaining what makes bound states so special, and so difficult to treat using QED. We will then develop the most näı...
